Institutional Investor’s fifth annual top European CFOs were selected based on the responses of more than 350 research analysts and portfolio managers at some 300 money management firms, running an estimated $2.7 trillion in European equity assets; they were asked the following question: “Whom do you regard as the best CFO in the industry (or industries) for which you are responsible?” The voting wrapped up in January 2007. Respondents were asked to name their first, second and third choices for best CFO; the responses were weighted to produce a score for each candidate. We name top CFOs, as of December 31, 2006, in each of the 31 industry sectors that we survey for the All-Europe team. Unless otherwise noted, the annual compensation shown for CFOs profiled in the accompanying feature represents salary, bonus and other compensation for 2006, according to the company’s annual filings.
